제목 Preparation and characterization of porous particles by surfactant-free emulsion RAFT polymerization
초록 Porous polystyrene (PS) particles were synthesized through surfactant-free emulsion polymerization in the ab initio batch condition based on RAFT (reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer) polymerization. Water-soluble amphiphilic RAFT agent was synthesized from poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether and 2-(dodecylthiocarbonothioylthio)-2-methylpropionic acid (DDMAT). Styrene was copolymerized with methyl vinyl ketone (MVK) using VA-044 (2,2'-azobis[2-(2-imidazolin-2-yl)propane]dihydrochloride) as an initiator, followed by the photodegradation by UV irradiation. PS particles were characterized with FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared), 1H-NMR spectroscopies. GPC and DLS confirmed the narrow polydispersities and the formation of narrow-distributed particles. Porous surface and morphology of particles were confirmed by SEM and TEM images. Porous PS particles are expected to be used in drug delivery system and future biomaterials.
