Synthesis and Properties of Rod –Coil Triblock Copolymers : Poly(ethylene oxide)-Polyfluorene-Poly(ethylene oxide)s with Different Poly(ethylene oxide) Molecular Weight |

A series of well-defined rod-coil triblock copolymers poly(ethylene oxide)-polyfluorene-poly(ethylene oxide)s (PEO-PF-PEOs) based on polyfluorene have been synthesized. Hydroxyl end-functionalized polyfluorene (PFOH) was synthesized though Yamamoto reaction of 2,7-dibromo-9,9-di-n-dodecylfluorene and end-capped with 4-bromobenzyl alcohol successfully by being measured with 1H NMR. Poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether (PEG) were end-modified from hydroxyl group to carboxyl group to produce methoxy-PEO-monocarboxylic acid (M-PEO-A). PEO-PF-PEO was synthesized via the coupling reaction of PFOH and M-PEO-A. And the PEO-PF-PEOs have been synthesized with different PEG molecular weight (350, 550, 750, 2000) in order to investigate and compare their photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) properties for the better application in light-emitting diodes (LEDs). |
