A series of amphiphilic triblock copolymer containing a rod-like polyfluorene unit was successfully synthesized. The rod-like, hydroxyl end-functionalized polyfluorene (PFOH) was synthesized though Yamamoto reaction of 2,7-dibromo-9,9-di-n-dodecylfluorene and end-capped with 4-bromobenzyl alcohol successfully by being measured with 1H NMR. α-Monocarboxy-ω-monomethoxypoly(ethylene oxide)s (CMPEO), synthesized through the modification from hydroxyl group to carboxyl group at the end of poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether (PEG), were then added at the both ends of PFOH to produce rod–coil triblock copolymers of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-polyfluorene-b-poly(ethylene oxide)s (PEO-b-PF-b-PEO)s. Due to the dissimilarities of chemical nature and chain conformation of PF and PEO, the samples showed self-assembled, microphase-separated morphologies both in various solvents and in solid state, which were characterized by various characterization techniques. |
