Self-Controlled Synthesis of Hyperbranched Poly(ether ketone)s from A2+B3 approach via Different Solubilities of Monomers in the Reaction Medium |

Hyperbranched poly(ether-ketone)s (HBP’s) were syntehsiszed via A3 (trimesic acid) + B2 (diphenyl ether and 1,4-diphenoxybenzene) polymerization approach without forming cross-linked produces, because the polymer-forming process based on Friedel-Crafts reaction was kinetically controlled by the solubility difference of monomers in the viscous hydrophilic reaction medium, poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA)/phosphorus (P2O5). In this study, we confirmed if A2 (terephthalic acid and 4,4’-oxybis(benzoic acid)) and B3 (triphenoxy benzene) polymerization system were also eligible to avoid gelation. For the initiative study, B3 monomer was synthesized from the reaction between tribromobenzene and phenol. HBP’s were prepared from equimolar or equifunctional stoichiometry, respectively. The thermal properties of resultant HBP’s were determined by TGA and DSC. Structures of HBP’s were analyzed by using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectroscopy. |
