Hyperbranched polymer (HBP) is a multi-branched polymer which is similar to dendrimer. This is spotlighted recently because its synthesis is easy and convenient compared to dendrimer. In this study 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane as an initiator is partially deprotonated with potassium methoxide solution and glycidol monomer undergoes to the ring-opening multi-branching polymerization. The resultant, HBP is reacted with boric acid to yield HBP-boric acid conjugate. The elastic segment synthesized by urethane reaction of polytetramethylene ether glycol with 4,4’-methylenebis(cyclohexyl isocyanate) is the conjugate to get polyurethane elastomer it showing self-healing property: Boric containing polyurethane hydrogel forms reversible covalent bonds with hydroxyl group, allowing to a dynamic reversible cross-linking of macromolecules. The synthesized macromolecule is characterized by using 1H and 13C NMR, FT-IR. |
