Preparation of porous polyimide nanospheres by solvent evaporation-induced phase separation |

Fabrication of porous polyimide (PI) nanospheres was carried out by the electrospraying process (ESP). The solvent evaporation can induce phase separation in sprayed droplets to have porous surface during the ESP. To guide the solvent evaporation-induced phase separation, we designed a new apparatus. Heating collector can not only increase the solvent evaporation rate, but also directly obtain PI nanospheres imidized from PAA solution during dry spraying. The mean diameters of porous PI nanospheres were controlled in the range from 500 up to 2000 nm by the polymer concentration and the flow rate. These results demonstrate that this method provides the simple fabrication of porous nanospheres without any porogens. |
