제목 Influence of molecular weight on swelling behaviour of hydrogels based on biopolymer  
초록 In this study, we studied influence of molecular weight on swelling characteristics of porous hydrogels. Hydrogels with fast swelling and high absorbent properties were prepared using ultrasonicated biopolymers. High intensity ultrasound could effectively decrease the intrinsic viscosity of the biopolymer solution. We characterized in terms of swelling ratio, gel strength and cytotoxicity. FT-IR was applied to characterize the structure of hydrogels. Owing to its high absorbent properties, good water retention capacity, being economical, and environment-friendly, it might be useful for its application in pharmaceutical field and agriculture field.
