제목 High Performance LCD using Photo-curable Reactive Mesogen
초록 We present a new method to improve the display performance of liquid crystal display (LCD) through surface modification using photo-curable reactive mesogen. The RM monomers mixed with alignment layers are directionally polymerized along the LC directors during UV curing. Since the polymerized RMs could produce and memorized the specific pretilt and azimuthal angles at the specific panel region, the response time characteristics could be dramatically improved and the wide viewing angle performances could be realized with multi-domains. From these results, we believe that this method is very useful to improve the display performance and design the new LC modes.
