Spontaneously adsorption of platinum on Au surface studied using EQCM |

Pt is one of the most useful metals as catalysts but its usage has been limited by the cost. Our recent work revealed that when Pt ions are adsorbed on Au surface, the reaction occurred more slowly in sulfuric acid solution compared to the one in perchloric acid solution. Therefore, a question has arisen about what the adsorption behavior of PtCl42- ions on the Au surface differs in the two different aqueous solutions frequently used in Pt adsorption studies. It is expected that the supporting electrolyte plays an important role during the spontaneous adsorption reactions of Pt in perchloric acid and in sulfuric acid solutions. In this report, we will discuss the effect of the anions on the adsorption behavior of tetrachloroplatinate complex ions on Au surface by means of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). |
