제목 Evaluation on the characteristic for vitrified glass of radioactive waste by plasma arc furnace
초록 The main purpose of trial burn, vitrifying combustible wastes in Plasma Arc Melter, is firstly to demonstrate that the concentration of hazardous heavy metal elements emitted to the environment through the stack can be kept below the regulation value in the HTM condition, the operating condition in which metal constituents are likely to be volatilized or entrained. Secondly, the following items were evaluated; final waste form by sample analysis and characteristic behavior of hazardous heavy metal components were also assessed. Test results show that PAM system can treat most low-level waste and/or hazardous wastes without any release of hazardous emissions exceeding regulatory standards. Additionally, analyses of inactive waste glass samples suggest that the reaching characteristics, leachability, XRD of final glass waste forms are excellent. Conclusively, it was verified that PAM system is proper in vitrifying low and medium-level radioactive wastes.
