Self-healing materials can spontaneously repair themselves after external stimuli. In general, many hydrogel self-repairing materials(HSRM) have been studied using secondary forces of hydrogen bonds, ionic interactions, pi-pi interactions, etc. However, there are many disadvantages of HSRM which are only achieved in an aqueous environment and have the weak mechanical strength. Here, we introduce a self-healing polymer with the novel healer additive which is able to use pi-pi interactions between pyrene moieties. The healer additive replaces the chemical cross-linker with the physical cross-linker for improving the mobility of self-healing moieties. The photo-polymerization method is introduced as applications for thin films or coatings. And its monomer and healer additive are newly synthesised and characterized by NMR and FTIR. Also, Its healing and mechanical properties are measured using the scratch and tensile tests, respectively. |
