Using the chain extender bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfide in Synthesis of High-Refractive Index Carbazole-based Transparent Polyurethane |

In this paper, the high-refractive index polymers of carbazole phenoxy-based polyurethanes (CPPs) were prepared by step-growth polymerization. It is due to the presence of the derivative moieties of carbazole groups; phenol groups and Sulfur groups that the polymers will be enhanced their intrinsic refractive index. Initially, bicarbazole phenoxy (BCP) derivatives were synthesized by the reaction between 9-(2-oxiranylmethyl)-9H-carbazole and 4,4′-(1-phenylethylidene)bisphenol. The transmittance of the CPP film was almost 100% as analyzed by a UV-visible spectrometer and the refractive index polymer was a high value of 1.64 on range from 400 to 800 nm as measured by spectroscopic ellipsometry. The result indicated that high-refractive index CPP could be a promising material for optoelectronic device application. |
