Polymer latex has been used in classical areas for decades and now being used as biomaterials and optical/electric/electronic materials. Dispersion polymerization, invented in 1970’s, has been used to prepare polymer microspheres with diameter range of 1 – 10 micrometers. In dispersion polymerization, the presence of steric stabilizer is essential to stabilize formed particles into spherical shape. In this work, we developed a stabilizer-free dispersion polymerization where comonomer acts as stabilizer upon the progress of polymerization. |
