Supported ionic liquid membrane (SILM) has attracted significant attention for the separation of carbon dioxide, one of the major factor of global warming crisis. While SILM has merits due to the high CO2 solubility and negligible vapor pressure of ionic liquid, it still has a low durability under high pressure. In order to improve the stability, supported ionic gel membranes (SIGM) were prepared by the formation of ionic gel on the top of the porous supports. Three kinds of ionic liquids, [hmim][Tf2N], [hmim][BF4], [hmim][PF6], are gelated with the addition of block copolymer. The gas permeance of N2, CH4, O2, CO2 were measured and the ideal selectivity was determined by the bubble flow measurement. The gas performance of SIGM was compared with that of SLIM. Ideal selectivity (CO2/CH4) of SIGM of [hmim][Tf2N], [hmim][BF4], [hmim][PF6] was 9.89, 9.54, 8.97, respectively. |
