제목 Hyperbranched Poly(amidoamine)–Functionalized Membrane for Heavy Metal Ions Removal from Wastewater
초록 Water contamination by heavy metal ions poses a serious environmental problem due to their toxicity and the potential of bio-accumulation. Thus, an effective and practical approach is required for removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater.
The aim of this study to investigate the feasibility of using hyperbranched poly(amidoamine)–functionalized membrane (HPFM) fabricated by two different approaches to remove heavy metal ions such as Cu(II), Pb(II) and Cd(II) from aqueous solutions. The hyperbranched poly(amidoamine) (HYPAM) was expected to facilitate formation of stabilized attractive association with heavy metal ions. HPFMs were obtained by the phase inversion process and the surface grafting process.
It was confirmed that the resulting membranes had high uptake capacities for different heavy metal ions. In addition, the membranes showed its reusability since HYPAM binds and releases heavy metal ions in water according to pH conditions, repeatedly. Therefore, the HPFM is a promising candidate as a highly efficient and reusable material for removal of heavy metal ions in wastewater treatment technology.
