The polymorphism control of PVDF by silver nanoparticle (Ag NP) doping is investigated for ultra thin film (~60 nm) and thick film (10-20 m). The thick films were prepared by simple solution casting followed by annealing, whereas the ultra thin films were prepared by heat controlled spin coating (HCSC). As all selective solvents have high boiling point (>140oC), the HCSC is found very effective technique to control the surface roughness, chain and dipole orientations in PVDF. We also address the suitable technique for correct phase identification in PVDF, as a large number of works in this field have already been misled. The significant higher temperature shift of melting temperature of β-phase was observed by Ag NPs doping, which has prime importance in diverse fields of electronic applications, i.e. IR-sensors, piezoelectric and pyroelectric sensor, transducers as well as actuators.
