제목 Single Molecule Electronics and Thermoelectrics
초록 The electrical conductance and thermoelectric power of organic single molecules was studied using a modified scanning tunneling microscope break junction technique. The single molecule conductance was largely dependent on the length and chemical structure of molecules. Measurement of the thermoelectric power of organic single molecules provided the information of charge transport character in Au-single molecule-Au junction. Thiol terminated conjugated molecules were unambiguously indicated as p-type (hole) conduction whereas -CN terminated conjugated molecules showed a n-type (electron) conduction. The ability to study thermoelectricity in molecular junctions provides the opportunity to address these fundamental unanswered questions about their electronic structure, while also offering an opportunity to begin exploring molecular thermoelectric energy conversion.
