Observation of Morphology for PET/PEN Blends by Selective Staining |

Nano-phase separated PET/PEN blends were prepared by twin screw extruder by controlling screw speed. After embedding the blends in epoxy molds ultra-microtoming was performed in order to make ultra-thin section of the samples. The thin film was mounted on Cu-grid, and stained selectively with RuO4, since PET domains shows higher reactivity rather than PEN. PET/PEN blends extruded in a slow speed show nano-phase separated structures by the effect of transesterification reaction. |
