Polyfluorene and its derivatives (PFs) are one of the most widely investigated light emitting polymers (LEPs) because of their highly efficient blue emission in both photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL). However, the drawbacks of PFs, such as aggregation and/or excimer formation in the solid state, insufficient stability, and high energy barrier for hole injection, limit their application in polymer light emitting diodes (LEDs). It was found the copolymerization of fluorene with various moieties makes the tunability of electronic properties and enhancement of thermal stability possible. In this presentation we will report the novel PF derivatives containing triphenylamine moiety as a side chain. We synthesized new random PF copolymers through Ni(0) mediated polymerization from 2,7-dibromo-9,9’-dihexyl fluorene with various feed ratios of 2,5-triphenylenevinylene substituted-1,4-dibromophenyl. The mechanical (DSC and TGA), electrochemical (cyclovoltametry), and optical (UV-vis and PL) properties were investigated and compared with well known PF homopolymer. The detailed electroluminescent properties and hole injection ability in their LED devices of triphenyl amine incorporated PF polymers will be presented. |
