In this work, graphite nanofibers (GNFs) surface was successfully modified using the amine treatment for use as the reinforcement for epoxy nanocomposites. We focused on the fracture toughness, crack resistance, dispersion and interfacial adhesion synergistic effects of amine-treated GNFs(A-GNFs) in epoxy matrix, mechanical properties of the prepared composites were investigated according to weight ratio of A-GNFs. The mechanical properties were calculated by the fracture toughness (KIC), critical strain energy release rate (GIC). The morphology was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and field emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM). Amine grafting establishes the link between GNF and epoxy matrix and converts the smooth non-reactive GNF surface into a hybrid material with both GNF and amine properties, promoting uniform dispersion of GNF and improving nanofiber-epoxy interfacial interactions. |
