제목 Adsorption of Phenol onto the Activated Carbon-Alginate Beads
초록 Calcium alginate-activated carbon composite beads were used for phenol adsorption from aqueous solutions. The composite particle were prepared by mixing different amounts of powdered activated carbons(PACs) with a 3%(w/v) sodium alginate solution, and then dripping the mix into 3%(w/v) calcium solution. Spherical beads were obtained with different amounts of powder-activated carbon immobilized inside the calcium alginate matrix. Adsorption equilibrium of phenol onto the beads could be represented by Langmuir equation. Equilibrium capacity of phenol onto the composite beads increased with decreasing pH of the solution. The differences in the rates of adsorption are primarily attributable to the differences in the equilibrium at the various pHs. Intraparticle diffusion could be explained by pore diffusion mechanism.
