Influence of ozone treatment on interfacial behaviors of carbon blacks/NR compounds |

In this work, ozone treated carbon blacks were added to natural rubber (NR) to fabricate carbon black/NR composites. The influence of ozone treatment on the mechanical properties of carbon black/NR composites investigated. Adsorption and surface properties of carbon blacks were examined using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller isotherms and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The surface free energy was analyzed by tensiometer. And Ozone treatment results show an increase in the surface free energy of the carbon black. Tensile strength and tearing energy (GIIIC) of ozone treated carbon black/NR composites were also measured. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the ozone treated carbon black/NR composites improved owing to the increase in the surface free energy of the ozone treated carbon black |
