Novel terminally-crosslinked ammonium-functionalized poly(arylene ether sulfone)s have been prepared as novel anion exchange membranes. The copper-mediated click chemistry for the propargyl-terminated PES induced the terminal-crosslinking of this polymer by triazole formation. Unlike the typical AEMs, our terminally-crosslinked membranes showed high conductivity, especially at low RH conditions due to the hydrogen bonding between triazole and water, while maintaining the high chemophyscial stabilities due to crosslinking. The synthesis, and properties of the prepared membranes will be discussed in detail. |
