제목 UV-blocking Pickering Emulsions Stabilized by Cellulose Nanofiber Surfactants
초록 This study introduces a novel UV-blocking Pickering emulsion system, in which the oil in water interface was stabilized by amphiphilically modified biocellulose nanofibrils (AMBCs). We first modified the surface of hydrophilic BCs to impart the hydrophobicity. For this, octadecylamine(C18amine) was grafted onto fully-oxidized BCs that were treated with 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl)carbodiimide and N-hydroxysuccinimide to form amide bonds. The AMBCs as emulsifier reduced the surface tension by forming a cellulose membrane at the o/w interface. The AMBCs also have significant potential for rheological property which induce inter-droplet interaction with forming fibrillary network. The interface adsorbed by the AMBCs were confirmed by calculated adsorption energy. The AMBCs were able to capture metal ions by forming complex for maintaining UV-blocking performance. Finally, we expect great applicability for development of a variety of cellulose surfactant.
