제목 | Preparation and Characterization of Polymethylmetacrylate/Synthetic Smectite Nanocomposite Films |
초록 | Polymethylmetacrylate (PMMA) is inherently versatile polymer with reasonable good optical properties and processibility. Many nanoscopic approaches have been done to improve the thermal and mechanical properties maintaining the optical clearity of PMMA. The optical properties of nanocomposite, however, are not generally inconsistent with the concept of nanocomposite. In this work, we will show unique properties of the PMMA nanocomposite, such as thermal and optical properties. Cast films, containing 1~9wt% by weight of synthetic smectite were characterized in order to confirm the formation of nanohybrid films by XRD, TEM1. There is no discernible peak in XRD patterns, which meant the enlargement of the basal spaces of the synthetic smectite by the exfoliation. The dispersed synthetic smectite in nanocomposites films was observed at the nano-sized level with wide interval. The obtained nanocomposites films could be kept transparent at even 9wt% loading of synthetic smectite content. Uniquely, exfoliated structures of these films had lower coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and higher modulus compared with conventional PMMA films2. Table 1.
