제목 Superlattice Formation Based on Charged Block Copolymer Micelles
초록 Block copolymers containing weak polyelectrolyte corona blocks are known to self-assemble into charged block copolymer micelles (BCMs) whose charge densities are finely tuned by pH of a media. Polystyrene-block-poly(acrylic acid) and polystyrene-block-poly(vinyl pyridine) BCMs can self-assemble together via the electrostatic interactions in the pH range where the polyelectrolyte corona blocks of respective BCMs assume opposite charges. By mixing of these charge-tuned BCMs, we could obtain binary complexes showing the crystal-like behavior and assign their structures with small-angle X-ray scattering and other characterization techniques. We demonstrate the multiple phases of these binary micellar crystals by varying the size and charge of BCMs involved. The dependence of the size ratio of individual phases is found to be different from that of inorganic crystals. These binary superlattices, constructed from finely tunable BCMs have the potential for the design of novel nanostructures.
