Removal of dissolved hydrophobic pollutant from aqueous phase using amphiphilic nanopolymer particles composed of PEG/PCL |
초록 |
To improve the performances of membrane separation, there has been a constantly increasing level of interest and research efforts in surfactant-based separation processes. In particular, micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF) was proposed to treat wastewater containing inorganic pollutants and toxic organic chemicals because of the synergetic effect of two techniques such as reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration which showed the high selectivity and flux, respectively. The amphiphilic nano-polymer particles (ANPs) was composed of hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and hydrophobic polycaprolactone (PCL), and could be self-assembled to form micelles in a selective solvent that was a precipitant for one of the copolymer components and a good solvent for the other component. Thus, it is expected that hydrophobic backbones make up the interior of the particles and have high affinity for hydrophobic organic pollutants, while the outer hydrophilic groups stabilize the particles by extending into the aqueous phase. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the potential of ANP for the removal of dissolved polyaromatic hydrocarbon from aqueous phase using micelle-enhanced ultrafiltration. The removal efficiency of the pollutants was evaluated as the functions of trans-membrane pressure and concentrations of the ANPs and pollutants in comparison with the normal surfactants. |
