제목 Batteries in Green Energy
초록 Human being must reduce fossil fuels usage for the purpose of keeping the earth from CO2 attack. One of the most convenient energy is the electricity generated by many kinds of power plants including renewable energy sources but it is gone if not used at consumer-side. Especially the quality of electricity from renewable sources of solar cells and wind turbines is not enough to use directly. Korea is estimated to save ~ 1.5 GW by adopting proper EESS (Electric Energy Storage System) and to spare expenses for constructing 1.5 nuclear power plants. There are several energy storage technologies and each technology can be used in accordance with situations such as the amount of storage, response time, price, and etc. A battery storage technology is one of the most efficient EESSs and lithium ion battery (LiB) is the most advanced commercial one. In this presentation, several EESS programs in the world including Korea will be introduced and characteristics of LiB will be reviewed in the sense of capacity and price.
