제목 Sensing characteristics on CVD-synthesized atomic-layer MoS2
초록   Two-dimensional (2D) atomic layers have a strong potential for 2D electronic sensor components due to extraordinary and novel properties not usually available in their bulk foams. In particular, unique properties of the MoS2, including quasi-2D crystallinity, ultra-high surface-to-volume, and a high absorption coefficient, have enabled ultra-high-performance sensor applications. However, intrinsic synthesis challenges of the 2D materials have made this task difficult. The detection mechanisms for gas molecules are not fully understood. Furthermore, implementation of only single-functional sensor presents a limitation for various advanced multi-functional sensor applications. Overall, I will address these issues in this presentation.
  As the first part of this presentation, charge-transfer based gas sensing mechanism of atomic-layered MoS2 synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) will be addressed. In situ photoluminescence (PL) characterization revealed the charge transfer mechanism between the gas molecules and MoS2, which was validated by theoretical calculations. The in situ PL characterization of the changes in the peaks corresponding to charged trions and neutral excitons via gas adsorption processes was used to elucidate the mechanisms of charge transfer between the MoS2 and the gas molecules.[1]  
  As second part, I will provide the result on charge-transfer based sensitive (detection of NO2 120 ppb) and selective gas sensing capability of the CVD-synthesized MoS2 and its good photosensing characteristics including moderate photoresponsivity (~71 mA/W), reliable photoresponse, and rapid photoswitching (< 500 ms). A bi-functional sensor within a single MoS2 device to detect photons and gas molecules in sequence is finally demonstrated, paving a way toward a versatile sensing platform for a futuristic multi-functional sensor.[2]
