Semiconductor photocatalysts have been given much attention due to their various applications to the environmental purification which makes it possible to completely mineralize a variety of aliphatic and aromatic compounds. However, among the various oxide semiconductor photocatalysts that are available, most of researches have concentrated only on TiO2. Therefore, our group synthesised zinc oxides nanorod were prepared by a micro-emulsion method using zinc acetate and characterized as catalysis for the degradation of bisphenol-A in aqueous phase. Catalytic reactions were performed in a fluidized mixed bed reactor at atmospheric condition. The synthesised zinc oxide nanorod were found to be active for the degradation of bisphenol-A. Details of the photocatalytic degradation mechanism and the experimental conditions will be discussed. |
