Au nanocrystals were synthesized via a simple and low-cost chemical route in several polyol solutions such as ethylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediool, and 1,5-pentanediol based on a polyol process. The polyols and surfactant polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) played important roles in the formation of the Au nanocrustals. The concentrations of the precursors (PVP, HAuCl4) were also critical to the shape and size of the final product. We investigated the shape and size variations of Au nanocrystals obtained from different polyols and concentration of precursors by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. |
