The Phase Behavior of asymmetric polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinyl pyridine) copolymer (PS-P2VP) with cadmium chloride (CdCl2) were studied by using rheometry, small angle X-ray scattering and transmission electron microscopy. With increasing amount of CdCl2, transtion and its microstructure was changed. This is due to conformational restriction of block copolymer by metal chloride. Because CdCl2 is coordinated with nitrogen atoms in the 2-position of pyridine ring (intra-chain coordination), this coordination induces a change in Kuhn length of a P2VP and restricts mobility of P2VP chains. Consequently, these phenomena should affect the transition and morphology of asymmetric PS-P2VP. |
