제목 Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye with novel poly (1-naphthylamine)/zinc oxide nanocomposites
초록 Novel poly (1-naphthylamine)/ZnO (PNA/ZnO) nanocomposites were synthesized by the in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization of 1-naphthylamine monomer with ZnO nanomaterials and applied as photocatalyst for the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible light illumination. The crystalline and optical properties of PNA/ZnO nanocomposites were improved with the increased contents of ZnO nanomaterials in PNA molecules due to the effective interaction of PNA to the surface of ZnO nanomaterials. The structural and the absorption studies confirmed the interaction through the hydrogen bonding between imine (-NH) of PNA and hydroxyl (-OH) group of ZnO nanomaterials. Under the visible light irradiation, MB dye was degraded by ~22% over the surface of optimum PNA/0.39wt%ZnO nanocomposite catalyst due to the efficient high charge separation of electron and hole pairs in the excited states of coupled PNA and ZnO nanomaterials.
