Encapsulation of Gold Nanoparticles with Photo-crosslinkable Amphiphilic Triblock Copolymers |

Shell crosslinked micelles have been investigated both as a mean to improve the stability of the core and as a way to access unique physical properties that cannot obtain from one nanomaterial alone. In this study, poly(ethylene oxide-b-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-b-methyl methacrylate) (PEO-PHEMA-PMMA) amphiphilic triblock copolymers were synthesized via activators regenerated by electron transfer atom transfer radical polymerization (ARGET ATRP) using a PEO-based macroinitiator, and then photo-crosslinkable units were introduced into the PHEMA block. Gold nanoparticels (~ 10 nm) were successfully encapsulated with the photo-crosslinkable amphiphilic triblock copolymers. |
