In this study, mesostructured triblock/organosilica in film form with large characteristic length scales were prepared using poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(DL-lactic acid-co-glycolic acid)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PLGA-PEO) as a structure-directing agent and a inorganic precursor such as 1,2- bis(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTESE). More hydrophobic PLGA block than PPO block in the typical PEO-PPO-PEO block used for the template of mesoporous organosilicas is chosen to provide more contrast between hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity that the organosilicate is effectively confined in the PEO matrix phase. And in order to develop well-defined mesostructured thin films, we find the optimum pH, concentration and block template/organosilica precursor ratio in the casting solutions. In particular, the extent of condensation of the inorganic species and rigidifying organosilica network before calcination are important key experimental factors for forming ordered mesophases. We also characterized pore size, pore shape, and packing structure using X-ray diffraction, small angle X-ray scattering, BET and TEM. |
