In this study, we compared the electrical conductivity of thin films made by variously pretreated single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). Pristine SWNTs and purified SWNTs were used to figure out the effect of impurities in SWNTs. Purified SWNTs could be obtained through the heat and acid treatment of pristine SWNTs. Cut SWNTs prepared by the treatment of purified SWNTs with the pirahna solution (mixture of H2SO4 and H2O2) were used to verify the effect of the nanotube length. After preparing transparent thin films composed of pristine, purified, and cut SWNTs, respectively, by the vacuum filtration method under the same transmittance level, we measured the current-voltage characteristics to compare the electrical conductivity. Moreover, in order to compare the degree of enhancement of conductivity, we carried out the formation of gold nanoparticles onto each SWNT film by the electroless reduction of gold ions. |
