제목 | Fabrication of Plastic Holey Fibers (PHFs) |
초록 | Photonic crystal fiber is a different way of using the remarkable properties of photonic crystals, by drawing the crystals in the form of microstructure. Photonic crystal fiber (PCF), also known as holey fiber(HF) or micro-structured fiber (MF), has an array of air holes that run along the length of the cladding. A region of high index is created by inserting polymer rod instead of tube, and this forms the core of the fiber. PCFs can be single mode for any wavelengths and core size because of the unusual dispersion properties of the cladding. nevertheless, polymer have been recommended for photonic devices such as POF(Plastic optical fiber) due to flexibility, controllability of refractive index, high processability and low cost, etc. we fabricated Plastic Holey Fiber(PHF) by drawing PHF preform which were formed by stacking hollow polymethylmethacrylate tubes. the drawn PHF was shown the uniform cross-sections exhibiting photonic crystal structures. Propagation and dispersion characteristics of the PHFs will be presented. Fig.1 (a) Photograph of PHF preform, (b) Optical microscope image of PHF |
