In vitro antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities of herbal extracts against Propionibacterium acnes |
| 초록 |
This study evaluated the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities of natural herbal extracts including Phellodendron amurense Rupr. (PA) and Paeonia lactiflora Pallas. (PL) against Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes). In this study, the PA and PL were extracted with distilled water (at 75 ℃) and then freeze-dried for 5 days. Finally, the mixture (PAPL) were sterilized by γ-rays irradiation. Antibacterial activities of PAPL against P. acnes were examined by minimum inhibitory concentration test (MIC) and the cytotoxicity of PAPL against human acute monocyte leukemia cell (THP-1), murine fibroblast cell (L929) and human keratinocyte cell (HaCaT) was measured using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. In addition, inflammatory mediator cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-1β were evaluated by ELISA kit on the THP-1 cells with heat-killed P. acnes. The product of cytokine such as TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-1β decrease on the THP-1 with heat-killed P. acnes. |
