제목 Thin nano-brushes for improving the stability of poly(D,L-lactide)-coated sirolimus-eluting stent
초록 The stability of polymer-in-drug coating plays an important role in determining the properties of drug-eluting stents (DESs). Coating defects such as peeling and delamination are serious problems found in DESs that could lead to adverse events such as thrombosis. In this study, a thin layer of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) brushes were introduced on the stent surface to prevent coating defects through two successive steps: (A) self-assembled monolayer and (B) ring-opening polymerization. The modified structures were confirmed by various analyses. A matrix of PLLA and sirolimus were ultrasonically coated on the control and modified stents. The drug release on the modified stent showed a sustained release profile as compared to the control counterpart. The SEM images of the coating after 5 months showed polymer coating defects from the control samples as compared to the modified stents. Therefore, the induction of the nano-brushes at the interface could be promisingly used for DESs.
