제목 Development of gamma-irradiated PVA hydrogels reinforced with shikonin as wound healing
초록 Shikonin, a substance originally isolated from the root of the Chinese plant that has been used as an ointment for wound healing, was thus applied to reinforce the therapeutic effect of PVA based hydrogels prepared by gamma irradiation.We evaluated the accelerating effect of both substances and compared the histological changes on the proliferation on normal and punch wounds in rats.The hydrogels treated with shikonin significantly accelerated healing of wounds, as measured by wound contraction compared to controls in rats.These results suggest that the treatment of PVA hydrogels with shikonin has a therapeutic effect on excision wound dressing.
