Ionic liquids have being investigated for many applications including reaction solvent, separation medium, and electrolyte. Since ionic liquids are liquids which are entirely composed of ions, they can have high ionic conductivity. They are also non-volatile and non-flammable, and exist as liquid state over a wide range of temperature comparing organic solvents commercially used. Therefore, when they can be used as electrolytes, it can make more safe battery than commercial one. In this study, a series of ionic liquids containing BMIM and EMIM cations was prepared with various counter anions. The polymer electrolytes were also prepared by soaking microporous PVdF film in ionic liquids. Microporous membrane was prepared by phase inversion method. The ionic conductivities of the polymer electrolyte containing ionic liquids with or without lithium salts were measured using AC impedance at different temperatures. The electrochemical stability of the polymer electrolytes were evaluated by linear sweep voltammetric measurements. Most of polymer electrolytes with ionic liquid are stable up to 4.0V. Electrochemical deposition-dissolution tests were also performed. |
