Hydroxyapatite (HA), the prime constitute of teeth and bone, involved in the biological calcification process was fabricated using different nano-matrices viz; nanotubes, nanoparticles, and nanofibers. Based on general concept of inorganic crystal growth, the matrices were functionalized physio-chemically in order to make a crystal friendly condition. The Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were functionalized with carboxyl group, gold nanoparticles (GNs) were stabilized by collagen, and collagen was physically blended with poly(caprolactone). Physico-chemical characterizations such as FT-IR, FT-Raman, and XRD, of composites showed that the nucleation of HA was through the functional groups and directs towards the single plane. TEM and SEM (equipped with EDX, Ca/P = 1.58~1.67) micrographs of the composites revealed that the morphology varies with matrices.
