Polymer nanocomposites based on Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) nanocomposites were prepared by a melt blending process. The non-isothermal crystallization behavior of the PET/MWCNT nanocomposites was conducted by DSC at different cooling rates, and various MWCNT contents. Analysis of the non-isothermal crystallization was carried out the various theories. The incorporation of MWCNT accelerates the nucleation and crystal growth mechanisms of PET, and this effect that is more appreciable at lower MWCNT content. Consequently, the crystallization rate of PET/MWCNT nanocomposites is faster than that of PET at a given cooling rate. The combined method was successfully described the non-isothermal crystallization process of PET/MWCNT nanocomposites. The nucleation activity of PET/MWCNT nanocomposites was increased with the incorporation of MWCNT, while activation energy of crystallization was found to be significantly higher than those of PET. |
