Two series of block based on poly(arylene ether ketone) were synthesized by a coupling reaction between both ketone and pendant sulfonated poly(arylene ether ketone), and decafluorobiphenyl (DFBP) end-capped unsulfonated poly(arylene ether ketone) as hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks, respectively. The chemical structure of hydrophobic block was confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H NMR and F NMR), also hydrophilic block was confirmed by (H NMR) and Fourier transfom infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The thermal stability of the membrane was analyzed by the thermal gravimetric (TGA) method. The radial structure of the particles and the average ionic cluster dimension of the membrane was analyzed by the small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) technique. The proton conductivity, water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), oxidative stability and mechanical properties of the block copolymer were investigated for their applications in proton exchange membrane fuel cells. |
