In Vitro Degradation Behavior of Poly(Dioxanone-block-Caprolactone)(PDCL) Scaffolds |

Biodegradable polymers have been widely used to fabricate porous scaffolds for three-dimensional (3D) cell culture to regenerate tissue-based artificial organs. Recently, polydioxanone (PDO) and polycaprolactone (PCL) have been interested in the applications for tissue engineering owing to their flexibility as well as biocompatibility and biodegradability, even though their degradation rates are usually too fast or slow for many applications. In this study, we synthesized poly(dioxanone-block-caprolactone) (PDCL) with different DO and CL ratio (10/0 ~ 0/10) by ring-opening polymerization. The degradation behavior (in vitro) of PDCL scaffolds fabricated by a melt-molding particulate-leaching method was evaluated at 37 ℃ in PBS. The changes in dimension, molecular weight, gross weight, pH of solution, mechanical properties (maximum load and modulus), and morphology of the scaffolds with different DO/CL ratio were examined with the degradation time. |
