Polyamides(PA1) which have average molecular weight of less than 10,000 were prepared by dispersion polymerization in a dispersion medium, YK D-130, thermally stable hydrocarbon up to 320oC, by means of anioic ring-opening polymerization. In addition PAs(PA2) having similar molecular weights were obtained from the ω-amino carboxylic acids and dibasic acids by a manner of step polymerization in the same dispersion medium. To compare the molecular weight and various properties of the products prepared by the both methods, the other PAs(PA3) were bulk polymerized with ω-amino carboxylic acids and dibasic acids. As the result adjustment of the average molecular weight for PA1 was more difficult than for PA2 and PA3. The PA2s showed the lightest color and the most narrow molecular weight distribution at the same molecular weight. For future uses, however, formation of micron size particles after preparation of PA1 was advantageous in a certain point of view. |
