Targeting to the desired site would not only improve the therapeutic efficiency but also enable a reduction of the amount of drug, thus minimizing unwanted toxic effect. Poly(ethyleneglycol)(PEG) is biocompatible polymer that improve steric stabilization properties onto the polymeric micelles and biotin which specifically binds with a receptor on the surface of tumor cells. Copolymer of biotinylated PEG and hydrophobic poly(ε-carprolactone)(PCL) is amphiphilic copolymer which is transformed into nanosphere consisted of a hydrophobic core and a hydrophilic shell for encapsulation of hydrophobic drug. The purpose of this study was to prepare biotinylated PEG-PCL nanospheres including paclitaxel, for targeted cancer therapy. Therefore, we investigated loading efficiency, release kinetics, and cytotoxicity of paclitaxel-loaded polymer nanospheres. |
