White light emission diodes have attracted particular research interest due to their various applications. We have succeeded in obtaining white light emission using conjugated polymer blends. Bluish-green emissive poly[9,9-dihexyl-2,7-fluorene-co-[2,5-bis(2-[4-diphenyl amino-phenyl]-vinyl)-phenylene-1,4-diyl] (FTPAs) and red emissive poly(2-(2’-ethylhexyloxy)-5-methoxy-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV) or poly{9,9-dioctylfluorene-2,7-diyl-alt-2,5-bis(2-thienyl-2-cyanovinyl)-1-(2’-ethylhexyloxy)-4-methoxy-benzene-5”,5”-diyl} (PFR4-S). The inefficient energy transfer between these blue and red light emitting polymers enables the production of white light emission through control of the blend ratio. The light-emitting device with a configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer blend/Ca/Al were fabricated, and the CIE coordinate of the device are (0.36, 0.34), which are close to the standard CIE coordinates for white light emission (0.33, 0.33). The detail of PL and EL properties will be discussed. |
