제목 Preparation of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes/ Polycaprolactone Composite by In-situ Polymerization
초록 Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) are vigorous studied due to its unique electrical, mechanical and thermal properties and incorporated into the polymers in order to improve the various properties of the polymers. In our study we prepared MWNT/polycaprolactone (MWNT/PCL) nanocomposites by in-situ polymerization [1,2], in which functionalized MWNTs (F-MWNTs) and unfunctionalized MWNTs (P-MWNTs) are used as reinforcing materials. The F-MWNTs has aromatic amine (COC6H4-NH2) on the sidewall, which was prepared by Friedal Craft acylation [3]. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), thermal gravimetrical analysis (TGA) and FT-IR were used to characterize MWNT/ PCL nanocomposites. It was found that F-MWNTs were well dispersed compared to P-MWNTs and chemically bonded with the polymer as indicated by appearance of amide group in FT-IR spectra (see Figure 1). The DMA analysis showed that the F-MWNTs did not give any effects on the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polycaprolactone probably due to the limitation of the functionalization on the MWNT surface. The melting temperatures a little increased for both F-MWNT/PCL and P-MWNT/ PCL compared to PCL (see Figure 2). However, P-MWNT/PCL has a bimodal type of the crystallization during cooling with increased crystallization temperature, indicating that two different crystallization mechanisms may exist (see Figure 3).
