New π-Extended Diketopyrrolopyrrole-based Conjugated Molecules for Thin-Film Transistor and Photovoltaic Applications |

Organic semiconductors are an important class of materials for electronic and optoelectronic applications such as organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs). Recently, solution-processable low-band gap small molecules have attracted considerable attention as OFETs and OPVs for several merits: (1) synthesis and purification are relatively simple; (2) batch-to-batch variation of property is not so significant, yielding consistent electrical properties; and (3) promising molecules with high carrier mobilities and power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) have already been reported. In this work, we demonstrate the synthesis of new low-band gap small molecules containing diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP). Thermal analaysis, cyclic voltammetry and absorption spectroscopy were employed to investigate their material properties. Eventually, we fabricated field-effect transistor and photovoltaic cell to study their semiconducting property. |
